CHEMICAL ANALYSIS

Capabilities of our Chemical testing lab include both Wet and Instrument Analysis by Optical Emission Spectrography (OES) and Electro-Chemical Analyzer.

OES is done by using SpectroLab from Spectro-AI, Germany. Alloys that can be analyzed using SpectroLab are Carbon and Low-Alloy Steels, Stainless Steels, Tool Steels, Other Ferrous-Base Alloys and Aluminum-Base Alloys.

The Electro-Chemical Analyzer is used for analysis of Copper-Base Alloys.

Typical elements analyzed by Wet analysis include Carbon and Sulphur ( by Strolehin apparatus), Phosphorus, Silicon, Chromium, Nickel, Manganese etc.

In general, Optical emission spectrography is selected in preference to the wet chemical procedures unless specifically directed otherwise by the customer.

Whenever possible, a ¼" x 1" x 1-½" coupon or a section of metal with these dimensions should be submitted for emission spectrographic analysis. For Wet Analysis, about 50 grams of clean drillings, millings, powder, etc., free from water, oil, lubricants and dirt are required.
